Broken Garage door Springs are one of the most common repairs that a garage door company does. It’s like changing out brakes on a car, but not as often. Generally the average life span on springs ranges from 5-10 years, and is determined by the quality of springs, how many cycles the springs are rated for, and the cycle use of the customer. This is normal wear and tear, and there is nothing you can do to prevent that.

In addition when you have a broken spring your door will not want to lift up and essentially is “Dead-Weight”, so whatever you do DONT try to use your garage door opener to open the door or you could easily blow your system up trying to lift a door that isn’t going anywhere.
